polyphasic sleeping

What is polyphasic sleeping? – Polyphasic sleeping is when you sleep at least more then two times a day. When you sleep once a day, you sleep monophasicly, which is quiete common, and when you do a siesta in the daytime, you sleep biphasic. To sleep polyphasicly is natural, all new born babys sleep several times a day, but an adult sleeps only once a day, because it is a standard in our society.

In some country´s it is normal to do a siesta (biphasic sleep) and that´s why they need less sleep at night and after the siesta they have a better concentration and they are more refreshed  then the one´s who didn´t do the siesta nap. More and more people get conscious about this advantages and that´s why it is getting a bigger trend to do a nap instead of taking more caffeine. You could also call the Wake-and-back-to-bed Method a biphasic sleep schedule.

You are more productive and you have a better concentration because of the several naps throughout the day. Instead of recharging your energy only once a day in a long process, your body learns to recover even better and faster in shorter time. There is not much scientific research about it yet, and there are not so many examples of people yet, who live with such sleeping habits. That´s why I only can talk about my own personal experiences and what I heared or read from others.

Imagínate que puedes tener seis sueños lúcidos al día (si vives con el ciclo Uberman) y al mismo tiempo tienes 22 horas al día a disposición en la realidad de vigilia.

Just imagine yourself that you have 6 lucid dreams a day (if you do the uberman sleep schedule) and you have at the same time 22 hours a day in the waking reality.

The motivation is obvious: More time. When you do the Uberman sleep schedule, you have 6 hours more a day, 42 hours a week or 7,5 days in a month. You have 3 months more in a year. So much useful time! If you don´t have enough time, and would like to have more hours a day, you understand me.

There are many reports of people, who experienced, that after they adapted to the sleep cycle and after they body learned to use the naps effectively to recharge the body completely, they mental performance was even better then on the monophasic sleep schedule.

For me it is of course very interesting, that many report, people who only heared about lucid dreaming, that they had suddenly several lucid dreams without any efford. Just imagine yourself that you have 6 lucid dreams a day (if you do the uberman sleep schedule) and you have at the same time 22 hours a day in the waking reality.

Or maybe you like challenges, and you want to test out with polyphasic sleeping, how far you can go. When you do polyphasic sleeping, it can be like a fight agains your big habit to sleep monophasic.
